Man Allegedly Burns Wife’s House For Cheating With UK ‘borga’

A man identified as Patrick Agyemang Yeboah has allegedly set his wife’s house on fire in Kumasi over suspicions that she was cheating with a UK ‘borga’.

He has since been arrested by the Ghana Police.

Patrick’s friend, Adutwum Kennedy, who is standing as his surety, explained in an interview with blogger DePrince that months before the incident, Patrick had confided in him about issues in his marriage.

According to Kennedy, Patrick suspected his wife was involved with another man.

He said that during that period, Patrick told him he was facing challenges with his wife, who had allegedly driven him out of their matrimonial home, a house that belongs to the woman’s family, where he had been living.

Kennedy noted that after Patrick was sacked from the house, his behaviour changed, which raised concern.

When he questioned him, Patrick reportedly said his wife was involved with her ex-boyfriend based in London, which he believed was the reason she wanted to end the marriage.

He added that Patrick had contacted the UK ‘borga’, asking him to stay away from his wife, stating that they had built a life together and had two children.

Kennedy further disclosed that due to the emotional distress, Patrick took to social media, specifically Facebook, where he posted that he would harm himself and his wife.

According to him, he later received information that Patrick had taken petrol and matches to his wife’s house with the intention of setting it on fire.

Patrick has since been arrested and is currently detained at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Asokwa.

When asked whether his friend had indeed carried out the act, Kennedy said Patrick denied setting the house ablaze but admitted making the threats on Facebook out of frustration and pain.

Kennedy added that after interacting with Patrick’s wife and watching some videos, it was evident that part of the house had been affected by fire.

“After speaking with the lady and watching some videos, parts of the kitchen were burnt, but I can’t say Patrick took petrol to the house to set it ablaze. We will leave that to the police. From the video, parts of the house were burnt, but I can’t emphatically say Patrick did it,” Kennedy said.
