Thomas-Asante Frustrated After Injury Rules Him Out Of Black Stars Friendlies

Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed frustration after being sidelined from Ghana’s squad for the March international fixtures due to injury.

The Coventry City forward sustained a knock during his side’s 3-0 victory over Swansea City, ruling him out of the friendlies against Austria and Germany.

“Frustrating to miss out on camp with the team, which is always an honour I hold highly,” the 25-year-old said.

He confirmed that the decision to withdraw was made jointly with the Ghanaian medical team and his club, prioritising his fitness ahead of a demanding period for both sides.

“Upon collaborative advice of both Ghana and Coventry, I’ll focus on maintaining fitness for an important few months for both club and country,” he added.

Thomas-Asante’s absence is a setback for the Black Stars as they use the friendlies to prepare for upcoming competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

All other squad members are currently in Vienna, with Ghana set to face Austria on Friday, March 27, before travelling to take on Germany on Monday, March 30.
