A Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Samuel Afriyie, has strongly criticized the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, accusing him of neglecting his responsibilities.
Speaking on Wontumi Morning Show hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Dr. Afriyie called on President John Dramani Mahama to intervene.
“President Mahama must take action because our Ashanti Regional Minister is not assisting us,” he stated.
Dr. Afriyie alleged that the minister is prioritizing social media activities over governance, describing him as a “TikTok Minister.”
“He is always on TikTok with his wife playing games. This is a shame to Ghanaians for choosing him as a minister,” he said.
He further emphasized the need for accountability, noting that taxpayers fund public officials and therefore deserve better performance.
“Every month, taxes are deducted from our income to pay him, yet his behavior is very disappointing,” he added.
According to him, he will continue to speak out against what he described as misconduct.
“We will not keep quiet. We will continue to call him out until the right thing is done,” he stressed.
Dr. Afriyie also dismissed calls from some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) urging patience due to the minister’s age, insisting that public office requires immediate results.
“The moment you assume such a position, you have no excuse. You must deliver,” he said.
He further urged senior figures and advisors around the minister to guide him toward more responsible conduct.
“He must stop behaving childishly and focus on the development of the Ashanti Region. There are many experienced and mature leaders in the region who expect proper leadership,” he concluded.
