Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday, made a stronger case as to why he remains the obvious choice to lead as the next National chairman of the party.
In his estimation, the current situation in the party greatly requires a national chairman who represents and mirrors the very tenets, aspirations and the hunger to lead the charge in reclaiming political power in 2028.
“I stand before you and to assure the nation through you, that I’m ready to be a working national chairman when given the mandate. This election (2028) is not for the books but for those who are tried and tested as a grassroots working man… someone who is highly popular and ready to work and work for the needed victory for the party” Chairman Wontumi boldly told constituency organizers in the region.
The third term Regional party Chairman, while selling his national chairmanship bid to constituency organizers and their deputies in the region maintains that, “What we can offer now to members of the party and Ghanaians in general is hope, insisting that “I’m built for the battle ahead”, calling on the organizers to support his ambition.
A visibly energetic Wontumi noted that, his long years of service to the party-as a- two- term Constituency chairman to an unprecedented three-time Ashanti Regional Chairman – has prepared him adequately for the task ahead and assured he was not going to compromise on anything that will reduce the attraction of the party to voter.
He further assured: ” As a national chairman, my work is at the various constituencies. The General Secretary will take charge of the party at the Headquarters but for me my work is with the people to ensure we bring in every votes to the party going into 2028″
Chairman Wontumi wants the party to judge him, not on certificate, but on his competency as well as what he can do for the total growth of the party.
“Don’t judge me base on my certificate but on my competency”, he added.
The assurances from the organizers were visible. They want a leader who understands them and has been with them from the grassroots. And to them, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako represents that leadership they require.
