‘Nigeria Has The Best Jollof’ – King Charles Sparks Online Debate

The King of the United Kingdom, King Charles III, has sparked massive reactions online after weighing in on the long-standing debate over which country makes the best jollof rice.

In a video shared on X on March 18, 2026, King Charles III, who hosted Nigerian President Bola Tinubu at Windsor Castle, recounted his first experience eating jollof rice.

According to him, he once hosted a jollof-and-tea party at St James’s Palace, where he had the opportunity to enjoy the popular African dish, adding that Nigerian jollof stands out as the best.

“We in the United Kingdom are blessed with so many people of Nigerian heritage… Last year, I was delighted to host a jollof-and-tea party at St James’s Palace. I was firmly assured that the jollof was the best, Nigerian, of course,” he said.

The video has since reignited debate on X, with many users revisiting the long-standing rivalry over which country produces the best jollof rice in Africa.

While some netizens insist that Nigeria leads the pack, others strongly argue that Ghana still holds the crown.
