Senior lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Sampson Anomah, has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by President John Dramani Mahama, describing its leadership as disappointing to Ghanaians. He stated that the current administration has failed to meet the expectations of the people.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Dr. Anomah recalled the challenges faced during Mahama’s previous administration, particularly the power crisis popularly known as Dumsor. He noted that the crisis contributed to Mahama’s massive electoral defeat in 2016.
Dr. Anomah also referenced a statement made by President Mahama, in which he reportedly compared himself to a “dead goat that does not fear the cutlass.” He clarified, “I am not saying this to disgrace him; I am just repeating the statement he made himself.”
He further criticized what he described as inconsistencies in Mahama’s comments on global economic pressures. According to him, during the Russia–Ukraine War, Mahama reportedly argued that the conflict would not significantly affect Ghana’s economy due to the distance from the country. However, the government is now attributing rising fuel prices to tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Dr. Anoma added that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) must continue to highlight the achievements of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He praised Akufo-Addo for his sacrifices during global economic difficulties triggered by the Russia–Ukraine conflict, noting that the former president prioritized human welfare over economic concerns.
