A member of the communications team, Mr. George Akom has warned that unfulfilled campaign promises on job creation could politically affect the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show with Kweku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, he questioned the progress of job creation promises made by the party during the 2024 election campaign.
“During the campaign, they told the youth that once they come to power, jobs will be available. Today the youth are asking a simple question: where are the jobs?” he said.
He noted that the NDC had previously criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to create employment opportunities while it was in government.
Mr. Akom also questioned the progress of the widely discussed 24-hour economy policy, which was expected to create more jobs for the youth.
“We were told the 24-hour economy would create massive jobs, but many people have not seen how that promise is being implemented,” he stated.
He cautioned politicians against making promises they cannot fulfill.
“If politicians continue making promises to the youth without fulfilling them, it will become a serious problem for this country,” he warned.
Mr. Akom added that the causes of unemployment in Ghana are well known and can be addressed if leaders are willing to take decisive action.
