Unemployment Without Action Is Dangerous for Society – George Akom Warns

A member of the NPP communications team, Mr. George Akom has warned that rising unemployment poses a serious threat to the survival and stability of many young people in Ghana.

Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show with host Kweku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, he stressed that waking up every morning without work or money to buy food can create dangerous social conditions.

“When people wake up in the morning and they have no job and no money to even buy food, it becomes dangerous for society,” he said.

Mr. Akom explained that food and shelter are basic human needs, and when people are unable to meet these needs, it creates frustration and social problems.

He expressed concern that many young people are turning to betting and transactional sex as a means of survival due to the lack of employment opportunities.

“Today, many young people are turning to betting and even transactional sex just to survive. This shows how serious the unemployment problem has become,” he stated.

According to him, society should not place all the blame on the youth.

“When young people are forced into these situations, we should not blame them entirely. The real problem is an economic system that is failing to provide them with opportunities,” he added.
