At least seven people have been confirmed dead, with several others injured in a head-on collision at Nsuatre Amamfoso on the Berekum-Sunyani trunk road.
The deceased include five women and two men.
The accident, which occurred on Saturday, involved a private car and a taxi.
Information gathered by Adom News suggests the taxi was carrying passengers from Sunyani to Berekum, while the private car was traveling in the opposite direction.
Five people, all women, in the private car with registration number GN 5753-22, did not survive the accident, whereas two passengers from the taxi with registration number AS 4819-17 died on the spot.
Others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Some eyewitnesses told Adom News they suspect a tyre of the private car burst due to the numerous potholes on the road, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the taxi.
