2026 Primaries: I will not take decisions to favor candidate A or B – Kodua Vows to act according to the NPP Constitution

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has assured party members and aspirants that he will not take any decision to favor a particular candidate ahead of the party’s upcoming internal elections.

Speaking on wontumi TV after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday, 17th June 2025, Mr. Kodua emphasized that the decision to schedule the NPP’s presidential primaries for Saturday, 31st January 2026, was made in line with the party’s constitution, Majority ideas and not based on personal interests or influence from any camp.

He underscored his commitment to transparency, neutrality, and adherence to the democratic values of the party, insisting that all actions leading to the primaries will be grounded strictly in the NPP’s constitution.

“There were several proposals brought forward,” he explained, “but I stood firmly on what the party’s constitution stipulates. That is the guiding principle I will uphold.”

Mr. Kodua reaffirmed that guidelines for nomination, campaigning, and aspirants’ code of conduct will be made public in the coming weeks.

He encouraged any party member seeking clarity to refer to the constitution, stressing that decisions will only be reconsidered if constitutionally justified.
