Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has stressed the need for his side to be solid defensively ahead of their game against Angola in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana will host the Palancas Negras at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in their Group F opener.
Addo and his squad began their preparations on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium and have since travelled to Kumasi on Tuesday to finalize their training ahead of the match.
“It is also very important for the spectators that we do not underestimate our opponents. Angola has a very strong team,” Addo told Max TV.
“They have players in La Liga, players in England’s Champions League, players in Portugal’s top division, and in France.
“So they are very strong. We need to be fully aware not to underestimate them. It is crucial for us to stick to our style of play. We also need to be particularly compact defensively to prevent them from scoring,” he added.
Following the match against Angola, Ghana will head to Morocco to face Niger in their second group game on Monday, September 9, 2024.
