2025 AFCONQ: I Never Thought We Would Lose Against Angola – Otto Addo

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has issued a warning to his team as they prepare for their upcoming match against Niger.

The four-time African champions kick off their campaign with a disappointing loss to Angola in their opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Despite the setback, Ghana is determined to bounce back when they face the Super Eagles in their second Group F fixture today at the Stade Municipal Berkane.

While Addo remains confident that his side is the favourite to win, he acknowledged that the outcome against Angola was unexpected, stressing the importance of not underestimating Niger.

“This game, we are surely the favourites and I am very, very confident that we will win this game. But in football, anything can happen,” the 45-year-old told the Ghana FA website.

“We saw it last time against Angola, the way the game looked. I never thought we would lose this game, but in football now there is no weak opponent,” he said.

He added, “So we have to be focused, we have to be concentrated, we have to do our job. Then the probability that we win is very, very high.”

The Ghana vs Niger match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
