The National Sports Authority (NSA) has assured that the Baba Yara Stadium will be ready for Ghana’s match against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month.
The Black Stars are set to face the Palancas Negras on September 5, as announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday.
Concerns have been raised about the pitch’s condition following a recent five-day ‘Kumuyi’ Church program held there.
Despite these concerns, Ashanti Regional Director of the NSA, Kwame Baa, has assured that the pitch will be in top shape for the anticipated game.
“At the end of the day, we will come back to say that yes, prudently, we have managed the little resources from the Kumuyi program,” he told Luv FM.
“We have been able to cater for our water bills, electricity and all manner of people working day in and day out to ensure your dear Baba Yara Stadium is at a point where we can all be very proud of,” he added.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
Following this, Ghana will travel to play Niger in their second Group F game on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The top two teams from the group will qualify for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.
