2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Mohammed Salisu Unavailable For Ghana’s Games Against Angola, Niger

AS Monaco star Mohammed Salisu will not be available for the Black Stars when they take on Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Salisu, who picked up a muscle injury against Sudan in matchday four held in Libya during the October international break, has yet to recover, missing three important games at Monaco.

As a result, Ghana coach Otto Addo has excluded him from the 25-man squad released on Thursday for the two crucial games.

Ghana will travel to face the Palancas Negras in Luanda on November 15 before playing host to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars are on the verge of missing out on the AFCON for the first time in 20 years following the team’s unimpressive performance in the qualifying series.

Ghana has endured a torrid AFCON qualification, losing two and drawing two games after four matches. They have managed only two points and are currently third in the standings heading into the final round of games this month.

The Black Stars now need to secure wins against already-qualified Angola and Niger, while hoping that Sudan falters against these same opponents, to keep their chances alive for next year’s tournament in Morocco.
