Team Ghana failed to progress to the final of the Men’s 4x100m relay event at the 2024 Olympic Games after a late baton changeover.
The team was disqualified as a result, making their time of 38.62s invalid. Their time would have earned the quartet a 6th place finish.
Rasheed Saminu, the first leg, got off to a good start, but he struggled with his changeover to the second leg, Benjamin Azamati, which affected the momentum of their race.
Azamati got his change to the third leg, Ibrahim Fuseini, right, but the final change to the anchor leg, Joseph Paul Amoah, was delayed yet again. Despite this, he went on to take the sixth spot.
China emerged as the winner of the heats, clocking 38.24s. France came second with 38.34s, while Canada took the third spot with 38.39s.
