Ashanti Regional NSS Boss Handed 2 Months Suspension Without Pay

The Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS) in the Ashanti Region, Alex Opoku Mensah has been suspended for two months without pay for verbally abusing a nurse at the Manhyia Government Hospital. After the incident in November 2022, the secretariat on December 1, 2022, temporarily suspended him to make way for investigations following an emergency meeting. However, a fresh directive from the NSS tells the official has been suspended for two months without remuneration. The suspension takes immediate effect. Ex-funeral Home Owner Jailed 20 Years For Selling Body Parts

An ex-funeral home owner and her mother have been sentenced in Colorado after selling body parts without any consent. Megan Hess, 46, and Shirly Koch, 69, dissected some 560 corpses between 2010 and 2018, selling parts to medical training companies which did not know they had been fraudulently acquired. Entire bodies were sold in some cases, prosecutors said. It is legal in the US to donate organs, but not sell them. Hess was sentenced to 20 years in jail and Koch to 15. The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has called for a total reform in the implementation of the Value Added Tax (VAT) to enhance compliance.
