2023 AfconQ: Central African Republic Hold Black Stars In Angola

The Central African Republic held Ghana to a 1-1 draw at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Angola Sunday afternoon in their second group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Ghana opened the scoring early in the game before sloppy play from Ghana was punished by the hosts toward the end of the first half.

The draw means Ghana still leads Group E with 4 points – the same as Angola – but is on top because of goal difference.

Kudus gave Ghana the lead after 17 minutes when he curled in fabulously from the left side of the box. The Ajax star finished off a beautifully worked goal to make it two-in-two for him.

The hosts on away soil got the equalizer through Karl Namnganda with four minutes to the end of the first half. Namnganda struck perfectly after getting past Jonathan Mensah.

Ghana will now shift attention to the four-nation tournament that will start on June 10 in Japan. The friendlies are to prepare the team for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
