Nigeria's naira extended losses on the official market on Wednesday to a record low of 461 to the dollar, as trading resumed after the Christmas holiday and the currency weakened to cope with high foreign exchange demand. The currency hit a low of 460.20 naira by 11:04 GMT, down from its opening position of 454.98 naira, Refinitiv data showed. "It's a shift from previous levels. Oil marketing companies (OMCs) are expected to reduce fuel prices significantly in the first week of 2023, with some selling at single digits, the Institute for Energy Securities (IES) has predicted. The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has expressed satisfaction with investigations into auctions of vehicles and other goods by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). The investigations began in August following a report into Labianca Company Limited’s failure for years to pay duties on imported food products. That investigation led to the dismissal of the Commissioner of Customs, Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (rtd).
