Marburg: Residents In Galamsey Areas Are At High Risk – GHS

Residents living in and around areas where illegal small scale mining (galamsey) is rampant are prone to the Marburg virus, according to the Ghana Health Service. The service says the Marburg Virus is spread by bats and bats live in caves that are found in mining areas, and as such put them at risk. The alertness of residents of Essipon in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region has led to the arrest of a young man suspected to be among a syndicate behind the stealing of ECG cables in the area. Parliament has passed the Tax Exemptions Bill 2022 to streamline the tax exemption regime in the country. The Bill, among other things, comprises tax waivers given to local and foreign companies to encourage increased investment and more foreign direct investment in the economy. Users of the Accra-Tema motorway can expect to start paying tolls again after the completion of expansion works on the road.
