NDC Petition: Mahama Admitting Not Winning Election 2020 Is Shocking – NPP Second Vice Chairman

NDC Petition: Mahama Admitting Not Winning Election 2020 Is Shocking – NPP Second Vice Chairman

The Second Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Richard Asante, has said that it’s shocking the National Democratic Congress (NDC) PresidentialJohn Dramani Mahama, has not admitted he never won the 2020 general election.

This, according to him, is an absolute contradiction of their claim that Mr Mahama won the election but declared for Nana Akufo-Addo by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Speaking to a section of the media, Mr Asante, advised

the leadership NDC to stop peddling lies for their supporters to believe Mr Mahama won the election, knowing it to be false.

According to him, supporters of NDC should be aggrieved after hearing the admission by the Former President and NDC that they never won the presidential election.

According to him, the leadership of NDC deceived Former President John Dramani Mahama, to believe he won the election and organised series of street protest claiming the Electoral Commission (EC) erroneously announced Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Adddo as the winner.

In a petition filed at the Supreme Court on Wednesday 31st December, Former President Mahama has admitted he never won the presidential election.

According to Mr Asante, the Former President only prays the court to order the EC to re-run another presidential election for NPP and NDC claiming Nana Addo also didn’t win the election.

‘l was shocked after reading the NDC’s petition. Mahama admits he never won the election and same as Nana Addo. Didn’t NDC and Mahama tell Ghanaians they won the elections but Jean Mensah led-EC has ‘stolen’ it for Nana Addo? Mr Asante asked.

According to Mr Asante, the relief being sought by Mr Mahama in the Supreme Court, would amount to an absolute waste of time for the court to order EC to re-run another election for the two parties.

Mr Asante disclosed relief (b) in the petition, makes it clear that NDC and Mahama lied to Ghanaians for claiming to have won the election adding relief (f) states ‘no candidate satisfied the requirement of Article 63(3) of the 1992 Constitution to be declared Presidential-elect.

According to him, the court can never rule on a matter not stated as a relief in a suit therefore Mr Mahama has deceived NDC supporters that he won the election for others to conclude that the Former President will be sworn into office on January 7, knowing Mahama didn’t win the election.
